Development Engineering Lead
Location: Vancouver, BC
Salary: $125,000 – $155,000 CAD per year

Role Overview
We are seeking a senior level Development Engineering Lead to own and drive the end-to-end development of new physical products from early concept through commercial launch.
This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, product execution, and team management. You will be hands on with design and testing while also setting direction, making technical decisions, and ensuring development programs are delivered on time, on budget, and to spec.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through the full product development lifecycle
- Act as the primary technical authority, owning design decisions and engineering quality
- Define and manage development plans, schedules, budgets, and resourcing
- Review and approve designs, calculations, and technical documentation
- Oversee prototyping, testing, validation, and commissioning activities
- Identify and manage technical, cost, and schedule risks; drive design trade-offs and improvements
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to align expectations and execution
- Mentor and develop engineers, strengthening both technical depth and leadership capability
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in product design and development environments
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional or multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong background in mechanical or physical product design, prototyping, and testing
- Experience managing development schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables
- Familiarity with structured product development or stage-gate processes
- Legal authorization to work in Canada and ability to travel internationally as required
Preferred
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng. or P.E.)
- Experience with risk management tools such as FMEA
- Exposure to PLM, ERP, and 3D CAD systems
